The 55th winner of the 2000 Guineas, held on Tuesday 21st April 1863 over the Rowley Mile, was Macaroni (10/1), a bay colt by Sweetmeat out of Jocose, owned by Mr Richard C Naylor. The winner won by 3/4 length in 1 minute 49 secs, with a length between second and third. A field of 9 runners contested the race which was worth 4500 sovereigns (Equivalent to £504,000 in 2017)
